Workshop with Roberto Visani  - February 2017

The workshop was accompanied by text "Notes on the Index", the workshop tackled the issue of indexicality. However, it was not what I expected, I was under the impression that we - the students - were going to participate in some activity to create artworks. however, it was a discussion group that lasted for 4 hours.

Workshop with Hanna Maybank  - March 2017

Maybank is interested in flowers like myself, also is process oriented, she even makes her own paint. In this workshop Maybank walked us through the process of creating her paint, hep flowers paintings and the process of creating her "moth" paintings. She first drew the moth, then transferred it to the canvas using tracing paper, painted it, covered it with latex, and then painted the rest of the canvas, and then pealed the latex off the moth. A process that inspired me to mimic it in my own paintings (please see "the development of my work" section.  Maybank also has taken some residencies and have faced some challenges concerning her work and the timeframe required to finish that work, from this I learnt that when I am bound by a time frame to deliver some work, I have to do the work that can be finished within that time frame or otherwise, reduce the process so I can finish on time.

Seminar with Damien Mead - March 2017

His career path was inspiring to me, how he started painting landscape, and then fell back a bit as he joined corporate life, and then returned back with new ideas. What was also intriguing is the process, Mead creates his own object

Drawing Workshop in the British Museum - February 2017

A visit to the BM archives to practise drawing, it was an opportunity to get to know how to reach out to BM archives in case we want to practice drawing or meet an expert.

Interdisciplinary seminar with Marcus Coats - February 2017

More of a brain storming session to help us explore, what is it the interest us most, other than art and painting.

Interdisciplinary Seminar with Mark Fairnington - February 2017

Fairnington walked us through the process of applying for funding and working with experts of other disciplines. Examples included working with Simon Mallory and his residency in the Natural History museum in Oxford.

A Visit to Damien Mead's and Mark Fairnington Studios  - June 2017

Mead walked us through the techniques he uses in making his artwork, from making the object from clay to photographing it and then painting. It was useful to learn about the various techniques artists use, and also how they acquire their studio spaces and the admin requirements that they have to keep track with.

Painters Forum (lead by Dalia Atteya and Air Mukerjee) - July 2017

Abir walked us through a number of indian movies and documentaries to show us how some scenes from those movies resemble some famous paintings.

- I walked the team through my visit to the Chelsea flower show, where I talked about the history of the show, the nature of the prize and how this will influence my future work.
